We would like to thank you for supporting our center. The AWEC has develop various courses to help students enhance reading, writing and communication skills. Over the years, these courses have been well-received by both NTU students and faculty. With the support of the Office of Academic Affairs, we are committed to developing additional services, including writing consultation, to meet to the diverse learning needs of our students.
Recently, there has been growing concern about the impact of generative AI tools on teaching and learning. To address these concerns, the AWEC is now offering several self-learning and online teaching resources. These resources will provide students with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively and responsibly use AI tools in their academic pursuits.
Based on our observation and analysis of over 1000 writing consultations conducted over the past five years, the AWEC has produced a comprehensive self-learning manual: Writing Hacks 9+1. This manual consists of ten chapters, each centered around a common writing issue that students face in both English and Chinese writing. Each chapter not only covers important writing concepts but also incorporates multiple online learning resources. Alongside generative AI tools in writing assistance, this manual can act as a beneficial aid in enhancing self-editing abilities and increasing learning effectiveness.

In support of the 2030 Bilingual Policy, NTU has been actively promoting bilingual education over the past two years. To meet the goal of this policy, students need to acquire a range of competencies and skills, with reading skills serving as the foundation for all other skills. For this reason, the AWEC has created a series of open course video lectures that incorporate a wide range of articles related to the United Nations’ 17 SDGs. This combination of articles and lectures aims to cultivate the reading strategies and critical reading skills of students.
