Synopsis:
Is everyone actually equal before the law? Any implicit bias involved in the process of pressing charges can have marked effects on the defendant. In this talk, a former California-based prosecutor will share his reflection on the issue of combating biases and discuss the consequences of punishments.
Speaker:
Christopher Kwok has been a prosecutor with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office for twenty years. Prior to his retirement in 2021, he worked in the misdemeanor unit, felony trial unit, juvenile trial unit, and economic crime unit. He has been a California lawyer since 1997.
