英語溝通與團隊合作:策略桌遊應用

課程概述

This course utilizes the immersive systems of high-stakes strategy board games to develop student competence to communicate complex ideas and coordinate collective action. Designed to cultivate skills of analytical, logical, and integrated thinking, this course engages students in using English in fun, dynamic, and collaborative settings, such as the logical deduction of Paint the Roses, the crisis management of Pandemic, and the systemic policy-making of Daybreak. AI tools will also be introduced to support rule comprehension, idea confirmation, and writing practice. Through a series of game-anchored group assignments, ranging from technical instructions to persuasive policy briefs, students will translate interactive experiences into professional documentation and critical analysis.

  • By the end of the course, students will achieve the following course intended learning outcomes (CILOs):

CILO 1: Students will present complex information and strategic reasoning in a concise, organized, and professional manner in the first group assignment (CC 1, 2 & 3).

CILO 2: Students will use game mechanics to analyze cause-and-effect relationships and adaptive strategies in the second group assignment (CC 1, 2 & 3).

CILO 3: Students will synthesize diverse perspectives into group consensus in the third group assignment, mirroring professional team environments (CC 1, 2 & 3).

CILO 4: Students will demonstrate the ability to critically infer information in Paint the Roses, to solve problems in Pandemic, and to navigate global issues in Daybreak.

Ÿ In the first group assignment, students will write a user experience guide addressing common pitfalls and expert tips.

Ÿ In the second group assignment, students will rewrite a specific rule in the official manual following the instructional design tips given in the reference books.

Ÿ In the third group assignment, students will choose a professional identity, such as Policy Advisor, Technologist, or Social Advocate, and write an executive briefing accordingly.
